Discover Roselli's handmade carbon steel kitchen knives

One of the first things you notice about Roselli’s kitchen knives is the dark, beautifully marbled carbon steel. Each knife has its own gray-shimmering pattern, making them aesthetically appealing and completely unique.

Just like my Roselli carpenter knife in carbon steel, these kitchen knives require some care— you should wipe them dry and never leave them wet. For me, this is a simple routine that I gladly follow to maintain their sharpness and finish. In return, the carbon steel rewards you with an exceptionally fine edge and a long lifespan.

The handcrafted curly birch handles are not only beautiful but also ergonomic. With their smooth wooden texture and subtle metal details, they feel modern yet grounded. This design fits just as well on a stylish kitchen table as it does in the forest at a campsite.

Three Favorites – Santoku, Allround, and Small Chef’s Knife

Santoku
The Santoku is a real workhorse. Its broad blade is perfect for chopping, slicing, and dicing everything from fresh vegetables to meat and fish. The balanced weight and shape allow you to control each cut effortlessly. For me, it truly deserves a place in the kitchen, but it also works well for camping when you want to pack efficiently.

Allround
As the name suggests, this knife is a true "all-in-one." I use it for cutting everything from large cuts of meat to vegetables and root crops. It’s neither too big nor too small and always feels stable in hand. If you want just one kitchen knife that can handle most tasks, the Allround is an excellent choice.

Small Chef knife
My personal favorite! As someone with smaller hands, I appreciate the slightly shorter blade and the more compact handle. Don’t let the size fool you—the extra blade height gives it enough weight to tackle tougher ingredients with ease. This is the knife I use most in my kitchen, but it’s also perfect for taking outdoors thanks to its convenient size.

Tested under tough conditions – At home and in the wild

I put these kitchen knives to the test in both my comfortable home kitchen and under harsher outdoor conditions. Whether I was cutting through tough pumpkins or finely mincing garlic, the edge remained sharp and straight, without signs of chipping or pitting. Roselli’s carbon steel is undeniably harder and more durable than other carbon steel knives I’ve used. This provides a sense of security—both in everyday cooking and out in the wilderness, where sharpening tools aren’t always readily available. Roselli's kitchen knives also include a handmade leather sheath, making them exceptionally easy to pack and carry on your outdoor adventures.

Carbon steel: A little extra care, a lot more reward

Like all premium equipment, Roselli’s kitchen knives require proper maintenance to retain their performance:

  • Wipe them dry immediately after use. Avoid the dishwasher.
  • Occasionally oil the blade, especially if you cook outdoors or in humid environments.
  • Store them in a dry place, preferably in their included leather sheaths if you take them on the go.

For me, these small steps are not a burden. Caring for my tools becomes a ritual that deepens my connection with the knives. Plus, I get the chance to admire how the patina gradually changes over time, giving each knife its own unique story. Interesting in learning more about patina? Read more here.

Conclusion: New trusted companions for life

After thorough testing, I am convinced that Roselli’s Santoku, Allround, and Small Chef’s Knife are knives you can rely on. They combine:

High-quality carbon steel that holds its sharpness.

Handcrafted wooden handles with a stylish and ergonomic design.

Unmatched versatility—equally effective in the kitchen as at a campsite.

These three knives are now part of my daily cooking routine, yet they are also easy to pack for outdoor adventures. Alongside my old Roselli Carpenter knife, I now have a complete set of trusted companions that can withstand anything—from quick lunches to grand meals under the open sky.
